
Maaike Cohen graduated from the University of Amsterdam in 2002. She has been working as a lawyer since 2005. She joined Corten De Geer Vastgoedadvocaten in 2015 and became a partner in 2016.
Maaike drafts contracts and advises and litigates in disputes concerning the rental, purchase and sale of real estate and general contract law. In 2012, she completed the Specialisation Programme of the Association of Tenancy Law Lawyers (VHA).
Maaike assists commercial property landlords and tenants in and around Amsterdam. From healthcare institutions to sports clubs, from schools to breeding grounds. She also has extensive experience in retail and hospitality. Rent adjustments and lease terminations are part of her daily practice.
She advises residential landlords on sustainability and changing legislation in the field of temporary rentals, the Good Landlord Act and the Affordable Rent Act, among other things.
She teaches lawyers, legal professionals and housing association employees through educational institutions such as OSR and the Academy for Legal Practice. She also enjoys giving in-house courses on tenancy law.
Maaike is an open and balanced lawyer who is genuinely interested in her clients and their environment. She is practical, solution-oriented and enjoys legal puzzles. She wants to help her clients resolve their legal problems as quickly and effectively as possible, so that they can continue to focus on their business. Maaike Cohen is registered in the field of tenancy law and in the sub-fields of commercial tenancy law and residential tenancy law. This registration obliges the solicitor to obtain ten training points in each registered main field of law each calendar year in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
