Roland Mans (1969) graduated in constitutional and administrative law from Leiden University in 1994. He then worked as a staff lawyer in the Administrative Law Division of the Council of State until 1999. In 2000, he made the switch to the legal practice. Until 2015, he worked at De Clercq Advocaten Notarissen in Leiden, where he specialised in general administrative law, environmental law, subsidy law and government liability law.

In early 2016, he and two partners founded the Amsterdam-based real estate and administrative law firm van State Advocaten, which merged with Corten De Geer Vastgoedadvocaten at the end of 2018. He has been working there as a partner ever since.

Roland is a highly experienced, creative and committed administrative law solicitor. He works on the basis of the conviction that our government can only function optimally if it is sufficiently counterbalanced. This applies both to cooperation with administrative bodies and to conflicts with them. He enjoys and excels at litigation, but only if an out-of-court settlement has proved unfeasible.

Roland is also a writer. He has published the following books: Het Verdwijnboek (The Disappearing Book, 2002), De Gele Trui (The Yellow Jersey, 2003), De Uilenvlucht (The Owl Flight, 2009), Het Sleutelgeheim (The Key Secret, 2017), De Ontsnapping (The Escape, 2020), Opeens Zijn Wij De Vijand (Suddenly We Are the Enemy, 2023), Alleen Blaffen Als Je Kan Bijten (Only Bark If You Can Bite, 2024) and Mijn Vader Gaf Mij Loetje (My Father Gave Me Loetje, 2025).

In his spare time, he can often be found on his racing bike.
