
Jeroen Groenewoud studied law at the University of Amsterdam, where he immediately focused his attention on tenancy law. Jeroen graduated in 2003 with a thesis on the defects regime in tenancy law. After his studies, he started working as a lawyer at Vastgoed Belang, the association of private landlords and investors. In 2007, Jeroen made the switch to the legal profession, where he further developed his expertise in tenancy law. In 2011, he completed the specialist training program of the Association of Tenancy Law Lawyers (VHA). As a result, he is now a certified specialist in tenancy law.
After starting his own tenancy law firm in 2015, Jeroen went independent in 2021. In October 2023, he joined Corten De Geer Advocaten, where he will strengthen the tenancy law team.
Tenancy law holds no secrets for Jeroen. He quickly gets to the heart of the matter and is up to date with the latest developments. Jeroen can also provide assistance in other matters that investors and users of real estate encounter.
Jeroen's practice involves advising and, if necessary, litigating on behalf of his clients, who are mostly landlords of residential or commercial property. His clients know him as a committed lawyer who takes a pragmatic approach to cases and seeks solutions to the issues at hand. Jeroen enjoys untangling knots and solving problems. His down-to-earth attitude comes in handy in this regard.
In addition to his usual legal work, Jeroen also teaches at various educational institutions, such as OSR, the Institute for Legal Education, and he teaches for the specialization program of the Association of Tenancy Law Lawyers. He is also one of the authors of Commentaar Huurrecht (Tenancy Law Commentary) by SDU and SDU Online. Jeroen is also a member of the Tenancy Law Advisory Committee of the Bar Association. As a member of the committee, Jeroen advises on legislative proposals concerning tenancy law. The Advisory Committee's recommendations are then sent to the legislator, who can amend legislative proposals accordingly.
In his spare time, Jeroen enjoys sports, running, and playing padel. He also enjoys watching sports, for example, when his children play. Jeroen also loves music and culture.
Register of Legal Areas (Art. 35 b, paragraph 1 of the Regulations on the Legal Profession)
Jeroen is registered in the Bar Association's register of legal areas as a specialist in tenancy law. This means that he is required to obtain at least 10 training credits per year in this area of law, in accordance with the rules of the Bar Association.
